The BioGRID TAB 1.0 format is a custom BioGRID format that is designed to provide our curation efforts in a format that is simple to read in Microsoft Excel or to script into Bioinformatics applications. All Columns are separated by tabulations. This format is not recommended for new projects. Please use BioGRID Tab 2.0 files for new projects.

BioGRID Tab 1.0 files are denoted by the extension .tab.txt or .tab.zip

The column contents of BioGRID Tab 1.0 files should be as follows:

1. INTERACTOR_A - Unique ID for Interacting Partner A
2. INTERACTOR_B - Unique ID for Interacting Partner B
3. OFFICIAL_SYMBOL_FOR_A
4. OFFICIAL_SYMBOL_FOR_B
5. ALIASES_FOR_A - List of common names for geneA, separated by '|'
6. ALIASES_FOR_B - List of common names for geneB, separated by '|'
7. EXPERIMENTAL_SYSTEM - System in which the interaction was shown
8. SOURCE - Author/s of the interaction
9. PUBMED_ID - PubMed_ID of the paper, separated by ';'

All columns are mandatory so columns with no values are filled with “N/A”
